Who am I?

“Reality is five percent of life; to survive, human beings must dream”

Walter Bonatti

The mountain

I have loved the mountains since I was a child, ever since my father used to take me with him to reach my first summits. The emotions the mountains convey are unique and irreplaceable. You feel welcomed without having to give anything in return except your respect. I like to lose myself in their silence, in the gaze of the peaks, in their vast horizons. I love the ridgelines, the wind on my face, the sun’s rays slanting into you at sunset. It is an inner journey, where you converse with yourself and learn to understand your limits and to respect them. It is a place where you feel accepted, where nothing else is needed, where you realize that perhaps life is simple, if you choose to live it that way.

My journey

When I finished high school, the most obvious choice was to enroll in a degree program that could offer me a stable and well-paid job, so I studied Management Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Turin. During my university years, I took part in an Erasmus program in Paris, where I became fluent in French and also learned Spanish by spending a lot of time with South American friends, with whom I formed a deep and meaningful bond.

After graduating, I immediately found a job at a multinational company in the electronics sector. The job had all the qualities to be considered perfect: an excellent salary, great colleagues, and strong prospects for the future. During this seven-year chapter, I lived for two and a half years in Germany, where I refined my English and learned German. However, the feeling that I was wasting my life grew stronger and more persistent. My days passed in front of a computer, with the sense that I was contributing nothing to myself or to the world. Chasing an empty corporate career was never my path. I knew it but I never had the courage to make a drastic decision.

The Turning Point

The situation had become unbearable, and for this reason, on February 14, 2024, I made the decision that frightened me more than any other: I resigned. A choice that is terrifying because it throws you from a safe harbor into complete uncertainty. Yet it was the right moment to take a risk, to change course entirely, and to pursue my dreams.

I decided to begin a training course to become a Hiking Guide, and at the same time I returned to university to study Mountain Science and Technology, a new degree program at the University of Turin. Time passes quickly now, but the feeling is that my days are finally full and fulfilling.

During this period of transition, I took the opportunity to tick off my dream list a few projects that had previously existed only on paper: working in a mountain hut (an extraordinary experience!!), spending time volunteering in Africa, and completing a multi-day walk.

Happiness

And here we are, telling you that today I have become a Hiking Guide, and I take you into the mountains with passion my place of the heart. I am enthusiastic about what I do, and I hope I can pass on even just a small part of the emotions I feel along this new path in life.

Always chase your dreams, be happy with what you do, because we only have one life. This is obviously not the final destination, but just the beginning of a new life, and I can’t wait to share the next experiences with you!

I’ll be waiting for you in the mountains!! 🙂
